Feed Denver Internship Opportunities
These internship positions will play a key role in assisting in the creation
of model farms and an urban agriculture regional training center which
will provide the City of Denver stake holders - citizens and leaders – with
the knowledge and tools necessary to make Denver a leader in the
sustainable foodshed movement.
We are looking for people who want to build their work experience and:
1. Gain in-depth knowledge of urban agriculture and the
sustainable foodshed movement - which includes healthy food
access, environment, labor, and small scale urban farming issues.
2. Make a critical and measurable impact on these issues by
leveraging the wave of public support for urban farming and the
creation of a sustainable foodshed.
We are seeking to fill the following internship opportunities:
Digital Media and Social Media Intern
We are seeking a tech-savvy intern to work on website design and
maintenance, possible video production and editing, and creating and
maintaining social media profiles.
Urban Farm Management Intern
We are seeking a business or nonprofit management candidate to work
directly with the Executive Director of The Urban Farm evaluating,
developing and implementing management and office systems, as well
as, assisting in daily operational and administrative tasks.
Farm Manager Apprentice Intern
We are seeking a science, biology, engineering and/or applicable
degree candidate to work directly with the Farm Manager of The Urban
Farm developing and implementing new technologies and systems in an
urban agricultural setting.
Childhood Education Intern
We are seeking a graduate level education candidate to work directly
with the Executive Director of The Urban Farm developing and
implementing a science curriculum for children in an urban agricultural
setting.
Fundraising and Grant Writing Intern
We are seeking a grant writer to conduct research and write various
grant applications - federal, state, county, city, corporate and
foundation.
Public Relations Intern
We are seeking a Public Relations intern to strategize and manage
media and community relations for Feed Denver and its projects.
Outreach and Engagement Intern
We are seeking an intern to assist in achieving community relations
goals.
Volunteer Coordinator Intern
We are seeking a volunteer coordinator to seek out and train volunteers
for special fundraising and advocacy events, as well as volunteers to
assist in daily operational and administrative tasks.
These are unpaid internship for the fall semester/quarter ending mid-
December 2009. Hours are negotiable, but we would prefer an intern
that can commit between 20 - 32 hours per week. The intern will report
to the Executive Director. Most of the time will be spent in the Feed
Denver office at The Urban Farm at Stapleton.
